Community Centers, Inc. was founded in 1955, after a forerunner agency of the United Way (Community Chest) issued a report recommending that the then three community centers supported by it be placed under one administration.  The delineation of purpose of the Agency was clearly articulated in that document, “…to assure to each resident in Greenwich an opportunity to participate in educational and recreational activities and to receive counseling on the basis of his particular needs and interests.”  Since a host of social service agencies provided such opportunities to a large portion of Greenwich people, CCI could concentrate on those who have special difficulty in securing and making use of those opportunities.

Today, Community Centers, Inc. provides individual, family and group counseling, therapeutic recreational and educational programs along with advocacy.  The ways in which we provide this special support have varied over the years.  CCI’s singular commitment has remained that of meeting those community needs that fall within its frame work where, when and to whomever.  Social work services are at the core of all our work.

The longevity and success of Community Centers, Inc. is attributed to our ability to adapt and change services to the changing needs and challenges of our clients.  By being flexible and creative with our responses, trust and a sense of belonging are established.  Our services and outreach programs are well utilized by approximately 1,100 clients.  We have become, through our work and dedication, a symbol of hope, advocacy, reliability and success: Care, Counsel, Inspire.

COMMUNITY CENTERS, INC. OF GREENWICH has been serving the Greenwich community for over 60 years. We have a range of programs for people of all ages and provide services geared to helping all members be part of the Greenwich community.
